1 Corinthians 12: 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

These are called “Spiritual Gifts” because they are imparted by the Holy Spirit.
They are also called “Manifestational Gifts” because they are a manifestation of the Holy Spirit in His work and activity. We cannot see the Holy Spirit in person, but we can see the evidence of His activity through the operation of these gifts
1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
A. The gifts are distributed by the Holy Spirit so that the entire church will be built and edified.

They are not designed to bring attention to the one who operates the gift, but to bring glory to the Giver of the gift.
When people despise and neglect the gift or gifts that God has given them, they rob both themselves and the church. Not only do they personally miss out, but also the entire church loses an expression of the Holy Spirit that was meant for the benefit of all.
C. We must always remember that gifts, no matter how dramatic, are never the measure of a man’s spirituality.
That can only be measured by the fruit revealed by a person’s life, in particular, his character.
