1. GOD HAS A PURPOSE FOR EVERY ONE OF US
Isaiah 49:1
Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the LORD called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name.
He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.
He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.”
Jeremiah 1: 5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Galatians 1:15 15
But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man
Jeremiah 29:11
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declared the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’”
2. HIS FIRST DESIRE IS THAT WE MAY KNOW
HIM AND ALSO SERVE HIM
“This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1Timothy 2:34).
3. USUALLY THE WILL OF GOD IS THE OBVIOUS THING.
The word of God gives wisdom on almost every aspect of life. When you live and act according to god’s word you are fine.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105).
“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When you are walking with God, it does not mean that God has to decide for you, what to eat or not to eat, God gives freedom of choice as long as we walk in His ways.
Psalms 37:3-4
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Before you act ask yourself the following things:
– Is it the right thing to do? Does it please God; Am I not breaking any rules?
– Are my skills, gifts and training is in this area?
– Am I enjoying what I am doing?
– Do I see fruit in what I am doing?
– Do I have the peace of God?
4. PUT YOURSELF IN A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN KNOW HIS WILL
Romans 12:
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Many of the major decisions we need to make in our lives are not very direct, you may have two very good alternatives. Usually the decision you make has to really be something that God himself is directing.
It is these kinds of decisions that you have to put yourself in that atmosphere where God can speak to you.
The scriptures above talks about surrendering to the will of God. Totally letting our lives be worthy of His worship.
Letting God’s word to transform us. And aligning our thought lives to God’s word. This leads to our ears listening God’s voice
5. DECISIONS WE MAKE AFTER KNOWING GOD’S WILL.
When you know God’s will begin aligning your life to the direction of God.
You may have to change a few things. The job, location of stay, friends
you have, may take new course of study.
6. THE IMPORTANCE OF COUNSEL FROM MATURE PEOPLE.
“The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man
listens to advice” (Proverbs 12:15).
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors
they succeed” (Proverbs 15:22).
God has put wisdom in His people and before you take major steps in life consult people who spiritually mature, experienced in life or in the area you are looking at
7. GOD HAS GIVEN EACH OF US GIFTS AND ABILITIES TO
USE IN HIS SERVICE.
God always equips us to do what he calls us to do. If you aren’t gifted in a certain area, God is probably not calling you to minister in that area. (see Romans12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 and Ephesians 4:11-13 for lists of spiritual gifts and a discussion of them.) Remember that God’s ultimate purpose for all of us is that He would be glorified (1 Corinthians 10:31) and
that the gospel and God’s kingdom would be advanced (Genesis 50:20 and Philippians 1:12).
8. PERFECT WILL VS PERMISSIVE WILL
1 Samuel 8:19-22
Israel asks God for a king
My friend, God may allow you your way, but you will not prosper or be as productive for Him. You will not experience the blessings that come from following the King of Kings.
The Israelites paid a high price for their choice, and their country has never experienced the same level of greatness.
When we do our own thing instead of following God’s plan for our lives, we experience heartache.
Disappointment and loss of prosperity. Isn’t this too high price? Let us purpose to follow God so that we can experience the blessings of His perfect will.
9. What if I walked away from god’s will?
When you find, you are of falling, decide to return, God will always welcome you back.
